On the ferry ride over to Martha's Vineyard!

Martha's Vineyard

Eliza had her first trip to Martha's Vineyard last week. We only went for two days as I had a class to take that week. Eliza loved the ferry ride to and from the Vineyard! While we were there we stayed with Grampy Tom and Grammy Mary. She went on the "Flying Horses" carousel and went to the beach. She loved the carousel and went on with Daddy, Mommy, and Auntie Brenda. She did not love the beach as much, mostly because her Daddy put her piggy toes in the cold water. We can't wait to take her back next summer.

Getting this blog started...

I am excited to start this blog about our life with little Eliza. This will be a great way for family and friends to read up on the little one, if and when you are interested, of course.

Eliza is now almost 10 months. The time has flown. It seems like just yesterday when she was a tiny baby who I had to swaddle every night! I do not miss those crying colicky nights though!

Eliza is crawling around everywhere! She doesn't stop. She is also climbing furniture and "cruising" along. I can't plop her down with books and toys anymore because she doesn't like to stay still for more than a few minutes at a time. Let's just say cooking dinner is a real challenge. Her real interest is wall climing. She pulls herself up, lets go of one hand, and looks at me with a big grin as if she knows she is doing something dangerous. She goes from one thing to the next constantly. It's hard to keep up with her.

Some cute things that she is doing these days include buzzing like a bee, saying "wa wa wa" for a puppy, moving her hands together up and down when I sing "Itsy Bitsy Spider", clapping, waving, saying "Wow!!!", giving kisses, and a few others that I can't seem to remember right now. She definitely has a funny personality and seems to be a really happy baby for the most part. She loves to people watch and is a hit at the grocery store.

She still likes to get up with the birds, although her daddy and I would love to sleep in past 5:30 am, just a few times please. I wonder if we will ever sleep straight through until 7:00 am ...ever...

Right now I am home with her for the summer and am enjoying my time with her. Eliza goes to a baby gym class on Tuesday mornings and she loves it. She is the youngest one and probably the most hyper. She loves to crawl through tunnels, walk the balance beam, hang from bars, go on swings and lots more.

She has just started table foods and has mastered the art of shoveling food into her mouth. She has tried green beans (hates them), carrots, watermelon, banana, diced apples, cantelope, breaded chicken, turkey breast, and broccoli. She may have a dairy allergy and we are waiting for a scheduled appt. with an allergy specialist at the end of August to find out for sure. :(

Oh, and Eliza's head is in the 95th percentile (holy melon!), while her body weight is only in the 25th. Let's hope that just means big brains. :)

I hope to update this blog every so often so for those of you that are interested in reading up on little Eliza, please save this site to your favorites.

Thanks for caring!
